Our Story
History
Founded by two former pastor’s wives, Gloria Morgan Sextro and Mary Kay (Casey) Salminen in 2016, both understood grief and personal loss. Unsatisfied with current models of grief support, Sextro & Salminen set out to create materials that would address their own grief in a different way. Sextro & Salminen continued steeped in the spiritual disciplines of word, prayer, and fellowship and learned a new path toward health & healing.
Along the way, other women noticed their gratitude, hope, and optimism. Other women reeling in their own grief from death, divorce, disease, or downsizing reached out to Salminen and Sextro. As the women called, e-mailed, and dropped by for coffee, Salminen & Sextro quickly realized the unmet need and set out to create a safe place where women could start the healing and begin an alternate recovery process.
The Plan.
Salminen & Sextro learned that to be resilient, self-sufficient, and forward-thinking through loss and pain they needed to connect:
Two-By-Two, at the foot of the cross over the long haul. By connecting frequently, they created a network of support, accountability, and a platform to create opportunities for a brighter future filled with optimism and hope.
Blessed & Inspired creates forums for connection through devotions, bible study, book groups, and small groups where respondents learn to face difficult truths of the day, take responsibility for their own part in what is before them, let go of the nasty negative thoughts to distance themselves from the chaos through meditation and prayer. Once focused and forward-thinking, the Two By Two pair remains focused on whatever is true, whatever is right, to think about the things of God with gratitude. A thankful heart is a heart that is content for the moment ready to wait and see what the Lord will do next.
